Switch Stands

The green target means the switch is lined for the normal route. The red or yellow arrow means the switch is reversed, or lined for the diverging route. What the "normal" position of a switch is would be listed in the Timetable, if it is a main line switch. The arrow points toward the diverging route. Traditionally, Red/Green targets were used on main line switches, and Yellow/Green were used on
switches not connected directly to a main line (aka inside switches).
