Brunel's
Royal Albert Bridge
John Binding
Using details from Brunel's own drawings and notebooks, and
archival sources, this text examines the building of the Royal
Albert Bridge stretching across the River Tamar between Devon
and Cornwall. It follows every part of the 13-year construction
process and the difficulties faced by engineers at the time,
as well as the the pomp and ceremony of the opening of the
bridge by Prince Albert. The book brings the story up to modern
times as it describes the work being done to the bridge to
ensure that it continues in service for many years to come.
