BR Ventilated Van Dia. 1/213 Plywood Body
The British Railways standard ventilated van to diagram 1/208 had single vent corrugated steel ends and planked sides with cupboard doors. The roof profile was to the GWR pattern, although the vans were slightly taller than GWR designs. All were vacuum braked with Morton four shoe vacuum brake gear on a 10ft 0in wheelbase with instanter couplings. They totalled 19063 examples, being built between 1951 and 1958.
Later batches were built with fully-fitted brake gear with eight shoes and some later examples were fitted with hydraulic buffers.
The 2mm Scale Association produces a kit that can build this this van and other diagrams; 1/213 (Ply sides), 1/250 (Meat Van), 1/251 (Insulated van) and 1/233 (Fruit Van).
