The N Gauge Society Kit NGK14 (2mm Scale Association 2-532) represents a World War 2 order by the MOT to replace requisitioned private owner wagons worn out by their intensive wartime use. They were intended to be built at Shildon but the order was cancelled and transferred to the Southern Railway who constructed the 1,850 8 plank steel underframed wagons at Ashford to a design similar to SR Diagram 1390 but without bottom doors.
