GWR S13 Insul-X-Fish Fish Van

8T six wheel refrigerated fish van, built in 1948 Carriage Lot No.1718 (50 vans, 3301-3350) at Swindon Works (GWR Coding was INSIXFISH). The body was made of resin bonded plywood and there were four "DRI-ICE" boxes in the rood accessed via a ladder at each end and a catwalk. The 31ft long (over headstocks), steel chassis runs on 3ft 7½in diameter coach wheels, the axles being set at 10ft 6in centres. It has spindle buffers, J-hanger suspension with dampers, GWR round topped axleboxes and tie bars. Only the outer wheels were braked. After use on Western Region services some were transfered to Scotland where they were used on Aberdeen fish trains and saw use until 1969.

Sc3304W Millerhill on 6 April 1963. Livery is white body with black lettering, black underframe and grey roof. The freshly painted panels show its re-allocation to work from Aberdeen. Lettering at the right details loading and the 'Sc' prefix indicates the allocated region whilst the 'W' indicates the builder and repairer.
